Handbell Choir

John Angotti, (615) 550-2834

Liturgy@StPhilipFranklin.com

St Philip Handbell Ministry began in late 2014 with a rented set of handbells and a small group of ringers. Most had no handbell experience and some did not read music.

At one point there was a question about whether this was a viable ministry at St Philip because it requires participants to commit to regular rehearsals. But because of the interest expressed by several founding members, the appearance of new volunteers and the support of Fr. Bala we were able to continue and thrive.

Over the past year the group has accompanied music at several weekend Masses and played at special services such as the Women’s Conference, a Christmas Concert and Holy Thursday and Confirmation liturgies.

This season, we will have our own set of handbells and handchimes! We expect to increase participation in this ministry by adding to our core group -they rehearse weekly on Wednesday afternoons for 1:00 – 2:30pm – and by forming a new group that will rehearse on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

This ministry is open to men and women from high school age through senior citizen.  No experience is necessary. Members find it fun, spiritually uplifting and very fulfilling to be part of a handbell music group.

We have openings in both the core group and the evening group. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to get started. Ministry Description.
