It is often said that “where there’s a need, there’s a Knight” and our brother Knights in Hawaii are proving it once again. With financial support from the Supreme Council, Grand Knight John Fielding and members of Our Lady of Peace Council 5000 in Honolulu took immediate action. They filled a boat with clothing, sleeping bags, tents, food items and other aid, and sailed into Lahaina on Monday to deliver aid. With them were two Catholic priests who provided spiritual support to victims. Today, they will return to Lahaina with still more relief supplies.

Knights of Columbus are on the ground in Maui, distributing aid, coordinating temporary housing, serving meals and assisting with the cleanup. Bishop Larry Silva of Honolulu, the diocese which covers all of Hawaii, told me this week, “The Knights have definitely stepped up and rolled up their sleeves. We are very grateful!”

DUES FOR 2024 ARE DUE NOW. PLEASE PAY ONLINE, BRING A CHECK FOR $50 TO A COUNCIL FUNCTION, OR DROP ONE IN THE KNIGHTS MAILBOX AT CHRUCH OFFICE (with a note for what it is for).

Why be a Knight?

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in the United States in 1882, it is named in honor of Christopher Columbus. There are close to 2 million members in over 15,000 councils.

Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local Catholic Church, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life.

Make a Difference, Get Involved, Join the Knights!

Thinking of joining the Knights, please consider joining us for a meeting to check us out. Currently the Knights are running a promotion so that, you can use Promo Code “BlessedMcGivney” and join for free. We are always looking for active men looking for a place to grow your faith through service. We meet every third Thursday at 7pm in the activities center. We usually meet at 6:30pm, prior to the meeting, for a catered dinner and social 1/2 hour, cost is only $10.

Opportunities for Fellowship

February 3 – Valentines Breakfast

The Council is bringing back the Valentines Breakfast by popular demand. This is an event where the Knights will organize the men of the parish to provide a meal and entertainment for the “over 21” ladies of the church. We need men for all sorts of jobs; mostly serving, waiting tables, and cleaning up. This is a great event and hope to see lots of participation. Sign up Here

March 10 – Second Sunday Pancake Breakfast

The Council will continue our tradition of serving pancakes on the second Sunday of the month. This is a lot of fun to attend with your family or to work the event and fraternize with fellow Knights. This doesn’t have to be a large time commitment, so if you have been slow to get active, this is a great event to get involved. Volunteers are always needed. Robert and Chris typically run the kitchen. They always have something special to serve. Sign up here to help.

March 14 – Planning Meeting

The Council will conduct its month planning session in the activities center. All officers are expected to attend. Please notify Mike Pittman or Mike Ryan if you will not be attending. Meeting starts at 6:00pm. No dinner or refreshments are served, only rhetoric. Meeting will be in confirmation central (that’s the big room upstairs).

March 15 – Fish Fry

The Council will continue a long tradition of providing a fish fry for the parish. We need lots of help in serving, preparing, cooking, and clean up. We have new cooks this year, so come out and give them the support they need. This is a great event that is supported by the parish. We need a great turnout to make this event a success. Sign up Here.

March 17 – Blood Drive

The Council will continue our tradition of serving the community through our partnership with the Red Cross. The Red Cross has scaled back their blood drives and has selected St Philip to continue as one of the few blood drive events base on our past performance. We need help running this program under the direction of Blood Drive Chair, Kevin Maggard. Please sign up here.

March 21 – General Council Meeting

The Council will conduct its normal business meeting with our full council. All members are encouraged to attend. Invited guests are also welcome, especially those thinking of joining. Those interested should grab a Knight and express your interest. Happy hour starts at 6;00pm, followed by a catered meal at 6:30pm. There is a $10 fee for the meal (those who prefer not to eat with the council are welcome to join for the fellowship). An email requesting your RSVP will go out in advance. Make sure you are on the mailing list. The meeting will start promptly at 7:00pm in the activity center. Anyone wishing to speak on a topic at the meeting should notify Mike Ryan or Mike Pittman prior to the meeting. There is limited time for extra speakers, so reserving a slot early is best practice.

April 6 – Italian Night

The Council will conduct one of its major fundraiser of the year. We need everyone’s support. It’s a great event that is very family friendly, fun to attend, and a great event for everyone to get involved. Sign up to work the event, or buy a ticket (you can get one by hitting the DONATE button at the top of the page). Sign up here.

Congratulations! Council 7764 Earns the 2001-2002 Star Council Award!

Worthy Brother Kenworthy,

Congratulations!

Council 7764 has earned the 2021-2022 Star Council Award, recognizing excellence in program activity, membership growth (100% of quota), insurance promotion, fraternal reporting, and Safe Environment compliance.

During this challenging year, your council adapted and continued to stand in the breach, serving your brothers, families, parishes, and communities. The Supreme Council is pleased to recognize these achievements and acknowledge the hard work of you and your brother knights.

Your council’s award plaque will be shipped to your District Deputy for presentation. Production and delivery of awards is currently estimated at 10-12 weeks. Additionally, to help celebrate this accomplishment and promote your council, attached please find a bulletin announcement and press release for your use. These are great tools that will highlight your good works in the community.

There is still much to be done and we need your council to lead the way. Keep the momentum going and start planning now for another successful fraternal year! The new 2022-2023 Star Council requirements, which can be found at KofC.Org/Star, will help guide your council to excellence in the year to come.

Insurance

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society, which means we can provide financial security to members and their families, while turning premiums into charitable impact. Members should meet with Paul, a brother Knight and parishioner at St Philip, to customize a program to fit your family’s needs.
