Youth Mission Trip

Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

Servio Deo (Latin for “I Serve God”) is a summer mission trip in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Sixth graders through high school seniors are invited to serve the Lord, serve the Bay St. Louis community, and bond in fellowship alongside the youth of St. Matthew and Holy Family Catholic churches. An average mission trip day will include morning Mass and daily evening program, which will include a Catholic speaker and live band. Participants will also work at jobsites daily, helping the community by performing yard work, home renovations, and various social services.

There are 3 primary ways for you to earn money toward your trip.

  • Fund raise through St. Philip
  • Fund raise on your own
  • Get a job

The buttons below link to the various fundraising opportunities we have coming this semester. Each button will take you to the Sign Up Genius form for that fundraiser.

Fundraiser Fine Print:

  • Parents who help with fundraisers will earn $ toward their child’s trip, even if the child is also working that fundraiser.
  • Unless adult and student roles are explicitly defined on a fundraising form (i.e. main street festival), parents or students can sign up for any spot.

***Please note, if you sign up, you are expected to be there at the time you signed up for ONLY. The spots are limited because we want to make the time spent at the fundraiser worth it for those that participate. If you can’t make it, take your name off of the sign up sheet so someone else can fill your spot. If your name is on the sign up and you don’t show up to help, you will owe us what you would have earned.

New this year, we will be offering $10/hr for sanctioned service work at St. Philip not directly tied to a fundraising effort. This will include activities like serving as a teacher’s aid in CGS, setup or take down for major ministry events and other Youth Office projects that will be announced over the next few months.

Earning through these service opportunities comes with the expectation that you are actively helping the ministry (phone off, working and asking for more to do once you complete a task).

We have funding to support 620 service hours and it will be distributed on a first come / first served basis. Unlike the standard fundraisers, these funds can ONLY be earned by students.

Attached to this e-mail is a “Fundraising Hours Tracker” to help you keep up with and report the hours that you work to earn toward your trip. If you are unsure if a specific activity meets the criteria for these fundraising dollars, ask!
