Haiti Ministry
Patti & Tom Caprara, Ministry Lead
One of God’s greatest gifts is the universal character of the Church, blessing and calling us to live in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in faith throughout the world. Sister Parish relationships help parishes to live out Catholic social teaching. St. Philip’s “Sister Parish” relationship with St. Charles Borromeo in LeBorgne, Haiti dates back to the 1970s. On the first Sunday of the month our second collection is for the Haiti Ministry. In addition to raising funds, our Haiti Ministry actively works with the people of St. Charles helping them in many concrete ways.

More about our Haiti Ministry
On the first Sunday of the month our second collection is for the Haiti Ministry. This assists St. Charles Borromeo in LeBorgne with regular expenses much like our Parish Collection supports St. Philip. In addition to raising funds, our Haiti Ministry actively works with the people of St. Charles helping them in many concrete ways.
We are so grateful for the overwhelming response to our Annual Canteen Appeal for our sister parish is Haiti. In 2022 we were able to collect over $45,000 to help offset the cost of feeding out Haitian brothers and sisters. Our Canteen Program supplies hot lunch to three local schools: St. Rose school in O’boy (330 children), St. Therese school in Lenne (208 children) and St. Therese school in Duval (244 children). $110 provides lunch to a child for a year.
Whether your gift was large or small, your generosity has a profound impact on the lives of these children. Please know how appreciative we are for your continued support of our ministry’s work. We simply cannot do it without you.
Since 2014 the St Philip Haiti Ministry has overseen the following projects. All funds have been raised through the monthly collection from our generous parishioners.
